House. Painted.

Well, the painters have gone, there's a hole in our savings account, and the various shades of brown on the house are just a memory. The new colors are Sherwin Williams "Jersey Cream" for the body and "Rosemary" for the trim. Here's the progress:

Day 1:

Day 2 - Scraped, spot primed, and test patched:

Day 3 - One coat of the body color is up:

Day 4 - There's another coat up, although it's hard to see:

Day 5 - Some of the trim is done now:

Day 6 - Mostly done, except for a few touch-ups:

The finished product - we have pretty new house numbers, although I do think Craig put them a little too far to the left. (We'll see how long it takes him to notice this comment.) We also have a new copper mailbox that matches the numbers, which will be installed a bit later:

Closeup of the trim color:

All in all, we're happy with the outcome, and happy with our decision to have someone else do most of the work. It was nice to have it go on while we were at work. So why am I so tired?

The house colors look really nice =) How wonderful to be able to have someone else do the work and you can take all the credit. Haha. What great planting beds you have...any ideas on what you will fill them with? I can see a nice perennial garden around your foundation...

Leah, we're probably going to be putting some window boxes in, as well as some shrubs and perennials that give a bit more height.

We just had a landscape designer come out to talk with me, and he'll be drawing up a plan for the front and back yards.

I'm so overwhelmed by all the choices of plants and the design considerations that I think it will be helpful to have a design to work from. I have enough to worry about keeping things alive - hopefully this will help me have a nice garden *and* keep my sanity.

Wow! What a difference a little paint can make. It looks welcoming and (is this a strange thing to say about a house?) proud. I really like it. If only we weren't subject to vinyl siding. *sigh*

C&T's mom is willing to give free advice or perenial education. Eight years at Gertens and weeding with 30 gal garbage cans worth of experience. Ask CJ where his first job was...Colors are great! Inside is enviable and why are there no Phoebe pics, in coordinating attire in front of the house.
Thanks for the book reviews, I needed a new source of reading ideas.

Looks good!! Now, to be really "current", you just need a front door that will "pop".

"why are there no Phoebe pics"

Look in Day 5. She and Ellen are both peeking out the screen door.

Thanks for the comments guys! As for the frontdoor that "pops" clearly anonymous missed the great door stripping posts from last winter!

I choked on a little water when anonymous wrote that about the front door. Your front door is gorgeous and worth all the hard work!! I only dream of door like that. Seriously - I've told you that before so you know it's true.

Clearly anonymous doesn't really understand how beautiful that door is person.

Good job all around.

Thanks T! I'm sure Ellen appreciates it.

Wow! It really looks great. Also, the new colors really help to blend in the white around the windows. That's the first thing I noticed when I looked at the photo of your house when it was brown. Now it looks so happy and everything goes together!!
