Or, why a $300 video iPod seems like a perfectly acceptable purchase, if a bit of a splurge, but $25 for an actual armband or lanyard holder is too much to justify.
Because this works just fine for listening to audiobooks while painting, right?
That is, until I spill oil-based primer all over it.

I can laminate it for you.
I credit my iPod with saving my life each day. While riding the bus down West Broadway, I pop in my earbuds and bury my eyes in a book. By drowning out the environmental noise it helps me avoid making eye contact with any thugs that may want to "pop a cap" in my ass.
After dropping mine on the kitchen floor (thus, popping the plastic front partially off the metal back), I bought the bullet and purchased a rubber case for it. I call it the iRubber.

I bit the bullet, not bought the bullet. Typos are fun.
At least I didn't say I bit the iRubber.
I should clarify that George the iPod is quite protected - we have both a laminate-type scratch protector and the iRubber case. (That's the perfect word for that thing.)
I'm just a klutz, and oil-based paint is a bitch to clean off anything.
